Iredell-Statesville Schools officially celebrated the groundbreaking of Parkertown Elementary School on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, marking an exciting step forward for the district and the growing community it will serve. 

Elected officials, district leaders, community members, and project partners gathered at the future school site to commemorate the milestone and celebrate the beginning of construction. Representatives from ADW Architects and JM Cope Construction joined the celebration alongside members of Our Schools First and the Iredell-Statesville Schools Facilities Task Force. 

Parkertown Elementary School is scheduled to open in August 2027 and will provide a learning environment designed to serve students and families for generations to come. 

The groundbreaking represents another important investment in the future of Iredell-Statesville Schools as the district continues working to meet the needs of its growing student population while creating spaces that support teaching, learning, and student success.

District leaders expressed appreciation to the community partners, elected officials, and supporters who have helped move the project forward and shared excitement about the opportunities the neww school will bring to the area.
